About Kirishi
Kirishi is a metropolis and the place of work of Kirishsky District in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, positioned on the right financial institution of the Volkhov River, 150 kilometers southeast of St. Petersburg. It became first mentioned in 1693. Since 1727, it changed into a part of Novoladozhsky Uyezd of Novgorod Governorate, later of St. Petersburg Governorate. In 1922–1923, the uyezd become renamed Volkhovsky. Before 1931, Kirishi was referred to as Soltsy. On August 1, 1927, the uyezds have been abolished and Andreyevsky District, with the place of work in the selo of Andreyevo, turned into hooked up. The governorates had been also abolished and the district became part of Leningrad Okrug of Leningrad Oblast.
Kirishi became part of Andreyevsky District. On September 30, 1931, the workplace of the district was moved to Kirishi and the district become renamed Kirishsky. On December 27, 1933 Kirishi changed into granted city-type agreement repute. Kirishi was occupied for two years during World War II and absolutely destroyed in 1943, so that on February 19, 1944 the administrative center of the district was moved to the urban-kind agreement of Budogoshch. In 1960, Kirishi was rebuilt and the Kirishi oil refinery turned into constructed. In 2010, the administrative structure of Leningrad Oblast turned into harmonized with its municipal shape,and Kirishi have become a metropolis of district significance.
