Kandalaksha

Kandalaksha is a town in Kandalakshsky District of Murmansk Oblast, Russia. The settlement has existed for the reason that 11^th century. In the 13^th century, it have become a part of the Novgorod Republic at the side of the southern a part of the Kola Peninsula, and in 1478 changed into annexed via the Grand Duchy of Moscow. In 1915, the development of a seaport commenced, and in 1918 a railroad connecting Moscow to Murmansk strolling via Kandalaksha turned into opened. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of March 19, 1959, the Councils of Deputies of Kandalaksha and of Kandalakshsky District had been merged into one Kandalaksha Town Council of Deputies. While the district become nominally retained as a separate administrative department, all its subdivisions were administratively subordinated to the metropolis's Council of Deputies.
