About Hermitage Theatre

The Hermitage Theater in Saint Petersburg, Russia is one of five Hermitage structures coating the Palace Embankment of the Neva River. The Hermitage Theater was the second venue of the Winter Palace. It supplanted the Russian Imperial Theater, which worked from 1764 until 1783. The Hermitage Theater was worked in the vicinity of 1783 and 1787 at the command of Catherine the Great to a Palladian outline by Giacomo Quarenghi. The disintegrating Third Winter Palace of Peter the Great was devastated to account for the new structure, in spite of the fact that its old establishments are as yet noticeable in the ground floor.

Quarenghi's plans for the auditorium were engraved and distributed in 1787, gaining him a European notoriety. The crescent assembly room is finished with shading marble and encompassed with ten specialties for statues of Apollo and the dreams. As the inside has never been upgraded, the first stage hardware stays in situ, however, the detailed sets, an acclaimed work of the Italian craftsman Pietro Gonzaga 1751-1831, were lost amid the long periods of Soviet disregard. Visitors come to visit this place all over the world with their friends and family members. You can also come to visit, explore and experience this place.
