Chukotka is a government subject of Russia. It is geologically situated in the Far East area of the nation, and is authoritatively part of the Far Eastern Federal District. Chukotka is the second minimum populated government subject at 50,526 2010 and the slightest thickly populated. Anadyr is the biggest town and the capital of Chukotka, and the easternmost settlement to have town status in Russia. Chukotka is home to Elgygytgyn Lake, an effect hole lake, and the town of Uelen, the easternmost settlement in Russia and the nearest considerable settlement to the United States. The area is the most northeasterly district of Russia, and since the Alaska Purchase has been the main piece of Russia lying incompletely in the Western Hemisphere.
Chukotka shares an outskirt with the Sakha Republic toward the west, Magadan Oblast toward the south-west, and Kamchatka Krai toward the south. Chukotka is circumscribed in the north by the Chukchi Sea and the East Siberian Sea, which are a piece of the Arctic Ocean; in the east by the Bering Strait and the Bering Sea, some portion of the Pacific Ocean; in the south by Kamchatka Krai and Magadan Oblast; and in the west by the Sakha Republic. There are additionally a few islands having a place with Chukotka, from west to east the primary ones being Ayon Island, Ryyanranot Island, Chengkuul Island, Mosey Island, the Routan Islands, Shalaurov Island, Wrangel Island, Herald Island, Kosa Dvukh Pilotov Island, Karkarpko Island, Kolyuchin Island.
