About Cherkessk
Cherkessk is the city of the Karachay- Cherkess Republic, Russia, and additionally its political, monetary, and social focus. In Russian, the city is called and has comparable names in the dialects of the city's other real ethnic gatherings. For its 1st century of presence, Cherkessk was a stanitsa, a town inside a Cossack have, which from 1825 to 1931 was named Batalpashinskaya stanitsa and nicknamed Pashinka. In 1931, it was renamed Batalpashinsk and afterward one after another Sulimov in 1936 for Daniil Sulimov, Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Russian SFSR, and following Sulimov's execution in the Great Purge, Yezhovo-Cherkessk in 1937 for Nikolai Yezhov, leader of the NKVD.
With Yezhov's capture, the underlying "Yezhovo" was dropped, and the city gotten its present name in 1939. Cherkessk is the capital of the republic. Within the system of managerial divisions, it is consolidated as the city of republic noteworthiness of Cherkessk— a regulatory unit with the status equivalent to that of the districts. As a city division, the city of republic criticalness of Cherkessk is joined as Cherkessk Urban Okrug.
