About Belomorsk
Belomorsk is a town and the regulatory focus of Belomorsky District of the Republic of Karelia, Russia, situated on the Onega Bay on the shore of the White Sea. In the first place it was a little town named Soroka, or Sorotskaya in the official Russian Imperial statistics. On September 11, 1938, Soroka and a few close-by territories were converged to shape the town of Belomorsk. In 1941-1944, amid World War II, it filled in as the transitory capital of the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic.
Inside the structure of managerial divisions, Belomorsk fills in as the regulatory focal point of Belomorsky District, to which it is specifically subordinated. As a civil division, the town of Belomorsk, together with eleven rustic areas, is joined inside Belomorsky Municipal District as Belomorskoye Urban Settlement. Belomorsk is the social focal point of Pomorye. Verifiable places close-by incorporate Zalavruga and Besovy Sledki with old petroglyphs. Belomorsk is arranged on the mouth of the White Sea – Baltic Canal. The town can be said to be arranged at the passageway to the channel, the end purpose of the conduit framework being in St. Petersburg.
