About Baltijsk
Baltiysk is a seaport town and the regulatory focus of Baltiysky District in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, situated on the northern piece of the Vistula Spit, on the shore of the Strait of Baltiysk isolating the Vistula Lagoon from the Gdansk Bay. Baltiysk, the westernmost town in Russia, is a noteworthy base of the Russian Navy's Baltic Fleet and a ship port on the course to St. Petersburg. Baltiysk was initially the site of an Old Prussian angling town that shaped on the shore of the Vistula Spit sooner or later in the 13th century.
The town was named as "Heap" or "Pil" in a few records, perhaps taking its name from pils the Old Prussian dialect word for fort. It was in the long run vanquished by the Teutonic Knights, with the name developing into the German type of Pillau. In 1497, a tempest flood delved another gat before the town, and another expansive tempest made the traversable Strait of Baltiysk through the gat on September 10, 1510. This cultivated the development of Pillau into an essential port of the Duchy of Prussia, and a strong house was built in 1537, trailed by an arrangement of storage facilities in 1543, and the soonest strongholds in 1550.
