About Baksan
Baksan is a town in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Russia, found 24 kilometers northwest of Nalchik on the left bank of the Baksan River. It was established in 1822 as a Russian military settlement. In the 1860s, the Kabarda settlement of Kuchmazukino was established toward the east of Baksan; it was renamed Staraya Krepost in 1920. In 1891, toward the west of the settlement, the selo of Baksan was established. Baksan and Staraya Krepost were converged in 1960.
Urban-type settlement status was allowed to it in 1965; town status was conceded in 1967. Within the structure of authoritative divisions, Baksan fills in as the managerial focal point of Baksansky District, despite the fact that it's anything but a piece of it. As a regulatory division, it is, as one with one rustic territory, consolidated independently as the town of republic noteworthiness of Baksan a regulatory unit with the status equivalent to that of the districts.
