About Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is the Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in Novosibirsk, Russia, named in honor of Saint Alexander Nevsky. It is one of the main stone developments in Novonikolayevsk previous name of Novosibirsk. The congregation was worked in Neo-Byzantine design style in 1896– 1899. The building configuration was impacted by the outline of Church of Our Lady the Merciful in St.Petersburg fabricated a couple of years sooner. It was opened and sanctified on December 29, 1899. In 1915 it turned into a house of prayer. The house of God was a particular landmark to Tsar Alexander III who started development of the Trans-Siberian Railway which brought about establishment of Novonikolayevsk now Novosibirsk as another railroad station.

In 1937, the house of God was shut by Soviet experts. In 1988, the time of the 1000th commemoration of Kievan Rus' change to Christianity, a development started for the compensation of the basilica. In 1989, it was re-opened. The 1898 Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a red-block Byzantine-style working with overlaid vaults and bright wall paintings. The house of God was initially worked as a landmark to pay tribute to Tsar Alexander III who had started the development of Novosibirsk. It was closed by the Soviet experts in 1937 and just re-opened in 1989.
