Zavoi

Zavoi is a commune in Caras-Severin County , Banat , Romania , together with 23 August villages , Magura , Maru , Poiana Marului , Valea Bistrei , Voislova and Zavoi. Here in 2009 have been observed the ruins of a palace allegedly built with the aid of the Roman legionaries for Emperor Trajan in one hundred and one. According to the census completed in 2011 , the populace of Zavoi commune amounts to three,946 inhabitants, down from the previous census in 2002 , when there have been 4,343 inhabitants.

Most of the inhabitants are Romanian. For 6.08 percentage of the population, ethnicity is unknown. From a confessional point of view, most of the population are Orthodox, but there are minorities of Pentecostal and Baptist. For 6.44 percent of the population, confessional membership is unknown. Zavoi commune is administered by means of a mayor and a nearby council composed of 13 councilors. The mayor, Justin-Doru Cîrdei , from the National Liberal Party , changed into elected2016.
