Viseu de Sus

Viseu de Sus is a metropolis in Maramures County, northern Romania, positioned on the confluence of the rivers Viseu and Vaser. It has a place of 443 km² and administers one village, Viseu de Mijloc. The first documentary attestation is in 1365. Viseu de Sus is the terminus of a forestry railway system that extends deep into the Vaser river valley drawing near the Ukrainian border. Timber is cut on the hillsides at the pinnacle of the valley and brought down through rail for slicing within the sawmill at Viseu.
