About Uricani
Uricani is a town within the Jiu Valley location of Hunedoara County, in southern Transylvania, Romania. As of 2011 it had a populace of 8,618. Uricani is first mentioned in a licensed file dated 1888, while the locality was called Hobicza-Urikany. The call of Uricani is derived from the union of two villages, Hobit and Uric from Hatg Land. After 1920 the locality's name become changed to Uricani. Over time, the village of Câmpu lui Neag functioned as either a separate commune or as a village belonging to Uricani.
In 1965, Uricani turned into d a metropolis. It administers two villages, Câmpu lui Neag and Valea de Brazi. Like the alternative Jiu Valley towns, Uricani's foremost financial activities revolve around the area's coal mines, even though the city, like the vicinity, is in a length of transition as the mines have been steadily closed and many of the employees made redundant.
