About Trei Ierarhi Monastery
Manastirea Trei Ierarhi is a 17th-century monastery located in Ia?i, Romania. The monastery is listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments and protected on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church changed into erected among 1637 and 1639, within the Moldavian capital, in honour of 3 saints, and became blessed by Bishop Varlaam. In 1640, Prince Vasile Lupu, the famend defender of the Orthodox Church, set up here the first printing press in Moldavia and the Vasilian College, a better schooling institute. In 1643, the primary volume ever printed in Moldavia became issued in Iasi.
The Trei Ierarhi Church become dedicated through Vasile Lupu to the 20 monasteries on Mount Athos. Several Romanian royal figures are buried inside the church: Tudosca Lupu's and ?tefan Voda, their son; prince and pupil Dimitrie Cantemir; and Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the primary ruler of the united Romanian principalities. The church have become renowned for the exceptional lacery in stone which ornaments the facades, from backside to the top of the derricks. One can count over 30 non-repeating registers of decorative motives.
