About Tomesti
Tomesti is a commune in Harghita County, Romania. It lies in the Székely Land, an ethno-cultural vicinity in eastern Transylvania. It is known as after Saint Thomas. The commune is composed of a unmarried village, Tomești. Its call changed into first cited in 1333 when, a sacerdos de Sancto Toma, a priest from St Thomas changed into stated. In 1441, it's far recorded by using its Hungarian names as Zenth Thamas, in 1549 as Szent Tamas. Until 1919, its Romanian call became Santamas. The village became a part of the Székely Land vicinity of the historic Transylvania province.
It belonged to Csíkszék district till the executive reform of Transylvania in 1876, whilst fell in the Csík County within the Kingdom of Hungary. After the Treaty of Trianon of 1920, it have become part of Romania and fell inside Ciuc County at some stage in the interwar length. In 1940, the second one Vienna Award granted Northern Transylvania to Hungary and the village changed into held by using Hungary until 1944. After Soviet profession, the Romanian management returned and the commune have become formally part of Romania in 1947.
