About Tichilesti
Tichilesti is a leper colony in Isaccea, Tulcea County, Romania, having 10 population in 2018. Although officially a medical institution, Tichilesti appears to be extra like a small village, and is formally administered as a village by way of Isaccea. Tichileşti became founded as a monastery, in 1875 becoming a leper colony. Tichileşti changed into founded as a monastery, in 1875 becoming a leper colony. A legend says the monastery became founded through one of the Cantacuzino princesses who became suffering from leprosy.
Another principle of the records the settlement is that a group of Russian refugees settled there and based the monastery, but quickly have become outlaws who had been sooner or later caught. In 1918, for unknown reasons, part of the lepers moved to Largeanca, near the Bessarabian metropolis of Ismail, even as the rest of them being allegedly killed and their our bodies being burned or thrown in a lime pit. Following a 1926 newspaper article via F. Brunea-Fox, a journalist who lived with the lepers for three weeks, a clinic changed into constructed in 1928 at the monastery. The homes and the primary courtyard have been built inside the Thirties.
