Targu Neamt
About Targu Neamt
Targu-Neamt is a city in Neamt County, Romania, on the Neamt River. It had, as of 2002, a population of 20,496. Three villages are administered via the metropolis: Blebea, Humulesti and Humulestii Noi. Originally a marketplace city, hence its name it had an important role in Moldavian lifestyle. It turned into first noted in a late-14th century file. The call neamt is a widespread name of Slavic starting place for the German people in the Romanian language. This has brought about hypothesis of a German basis of Targu Neamt, consistent with which Saxon colonists crossed the Carpathians from the Bistrita area and built a commercial township.
Some Romanian historians, which include B. P. Hasdeu take into account that Targu Neamt became probable a German settlement from the thirteenth century, when the Teutonic Order made incursions from Transylvania against the Cumanic peoples that had been living in Moldavia. Nowadays, historians disagree with this opportunity frequently because of the long-lasting impacts of the communist-nationalistic historiography which refused to just accept the city became something else than a Romanian-based settlement.
