About Scornicești
Scornicesti is a metropolis in Olt County, Romania with a populace of 11,766. The metropolis administers 13 villages and has a total place of a 170 km², being the locality with the biggest vicinity in the county of Olt, surpassing even its capital Slatina. Scornicesti is situated within the historical location of Muntenia. Scornicesti become the birthplace of communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu, who lived there until the age of 11, while he left for Bucharest to emerge as a shoemaker.
During his dictatorship, Ceausescu wanted to make Scornicesti a version town to residence the newly created "Socialist Man". Consequently, in 1988, he commenced his plan through demolishing the traditional village houses and replacing them with rental buildings, and modified the town's reputation from village to city but, the bulldozers did no longer ruin Ceausescu's birth domestic, that is now one of the nearby attractions - see on WikiMapia.
