Sapanta

Sapanta is a commune in Maramureș County in northern Romania, 15 kilometers northwest of Sighet and just south of the Tisza River. It consists of a single village, Sapanța. It is known for its "Merry Cemetery" and was the authentic home of the Spinka dynasty of Hasidic Rebbes. Spinka is the name of a Hasidic group inside Orthodox Judaism. The organization originated in a metropolis referred to as Szaplonca, Maramaros County, Kingdom of Hungary.
