Sangeorgiu de Padure is a metropolis in Mures County, Romania. Bezid, Bezidu Nou and LoČ›u villages are administratively a part of the town. The first written record of the city is preserved in a papal tithe applotment listing from 1333 in which mention is manufactured from a clergyman „de Sancto Georgio” who paid a sum of 6 dinars to the neighboring diocese. In 1347, a man named Erdo, count number of the Szekelys, and the sons of Erdo of Erdoszentgyorgy had been cited. In 1442, Anna Herepei, wife of Erdo of Erdewzenthgergh is written approximately.
The village was the estate of Francis I Rakoczi, prince of Transylvania. The Redey fort changed into built in 1647. In 1788, Péter Bodor turned into born right here. In 1818-1809, the Redey fortress turned into rebuilt. In 1913, the reputable Hungarian call of the village is Erdoszentgyorgy. Its Romanian name was initially Erdeo-Sangeorgiu, after 1919 Sîngeorgiul de Padure which later changed into changed via Romanian authorities to the contemporary respectable call.
