Sambata

Sambata is a county of Brasov , Transylvania , Romania . It is inside the Fagaras melancholy , on the northern foot of the Fagaras Mountains. The village of Sambata de Sus seems noted on January 20, 1437 . On 3 April 2003 , the village of Sambata de Sus have become the house of the brand new communal Sambata de Sus , which separated from the Voila commune. Under Metropolitan Nicolae Balan of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Transylvania, the church started out to be restored in 1926 , and King Michael I became the second founding father of the monastery. The sanctification of the restored church turned into made in 1946.

The portrait of King Michael is visible on the inner wall to the right of the entrance to the church of the monastery, to the left of the entrance being the portrait of the Metropolitan Nicolae Balan . In the first years of Communism in Romania , the king's portrait become included with lime, turning into invisible, as they wanted to any references to the Romanian monarchy pressured to exile in the Free World.
