Salciua

Salciua is a commune positioned in Alba County, Romania. Salciua village is located within the north of Alba County, Aries valley, 100 km from Alba Iulia and 15 km from Baia de Aries, the closest metropolis, near the national road DN 75: Campeni - Salciua - Turda. Located close to the basin of Aries river, in between Trascău Mountains and the Great Mountain, it has a particular mountain landscape developed on limestone and crystalline schists. The altitude varies among 700 and 1400 m.

The huge Aries meadow gives favorable conditions for agriculture, the huge crop areas main to the area being named the "Baragan of the Apuseni Mountains". The first rate form of karst topography, with its fantastic vegetation and fauna and climatic traits make it a big traveller attraction. The village additionally has ancient wood churches.In 1925, some Romanian households have been relocated in Banat, wherein they based Salciua Noua village from Timis county.
