About Retezat National Park
The Retezat National Park is a blanketed region placed in the Retezat Mountains in Hunedoara county, Romania. Containing extra than 60 peaks over 2,three hundred metres and over 100 crystal clean deep glacier lakes, the Retezat Mountains are a number of the maximum beautiful in the Carpathians. In 1935 the Government of Romania set aside a place of the Retezat Mountains creating the country's first national park. Currently the park has 380.47 km2. The region shelters one in every of Europe's final last intact vintage-boom woodland and the continent's largest single vicinity of pristine mixed forest.
The maximum height of the Retezat Mountains, Vf. Peleaga, 2,509 metres is placed in the park. The park also includes approximately eighty glacier lakes. In 1979 the Man and Biosphere Program of UNESCO included the park inside the global community of biosphere reserve. The vegetation consists of about 1190 plant species, of which one hundred thirty have the "endangered" or "vulnerable" reputation. Wolves, brown bear, wild boar, Eurasian lynx, European wildcat, chamois, roe deer and pink deer, as well as small carnivore species consisting of Eurasian badger and Eurasian otter populate the park.
