About Oituz
Oituz is a commune in Bacau County, Romania. It consists of six villages: Calcai, Ferestrau-Oituz, Harja, Marginea, Oituz and Poiana Sarata. Oituz become the web page of battles at some stage in the First World War: the First and Second Battle of Oituz. According to Iorgu Iordan, the commune's call is of Turkic beginning; otuz or oltuz method "thirty" in Turkish. Poiana Sarata village is a part of Transylvania; in Austria-Hungary, it belonged to Haromszek County, and was then in Trei Scaune County until 1950.
Trei Scaune County is one of the historic counties of the Kingdom of Romania, in the historical place of Transylvania. The county seat became Sfantu Gheorghe.
