Madaras is a commune in Harghita County, Romania. It lies within the Szekely Land, an ethno-cultural place in jap Transylvania. It consists of a unmarried village, Madaras. The village changed into first noted in 1567 as Madaras, meaning birdy. Its name can also have stated the abundancy of birds inside the area.
