About Liebling
Liebling is a commune in Timis County, Romania approximately 30 km south of Timisoara. The village was built with the aid of German settlers in 1786 throughout the 0.33 splendid immigration of Germans all through this era under Emperor Joseph II and settled with Protestants. The network name derives from the administrator Baron Nikolaus von Vecsey. Apparently the commissioner of the colony desired to call the village Veczehaza in honour of the Baron.
In 1880 there were 4,0.5 humans, including 719 ethnic Romanians and 3,318 German-speaking Danube Swabians. In 1926, after the village and place were annexed to the Kingdom of Romania, 16 Romanian households from Transylvania were settled right here. By 1941 there have been 5,086 people, along with 886 Romanians and 4,086 Danube Swabians. However over 2000 human beings in general German speaking fled the advancing Soviet navy on 22 September 1944 with their Pastor Andreas Nagelbach. The Soviets deported over one hundred German audio system to work in the USSR where about half of died. The Communist regime settled over 2000 Romanians inside the empty houses.
