About King Michael I Park

King Michael I Park is a massive park on the northern side of Bucharest, Romania, round Lake Her?str?u, one of the lakes formed by means of the Colentina River. The region of the park has been inhabited since the Paleolithic, lines of settlements being discovered on the Her?str?u sand quarry,4 such as flint tools made through the Mousterian way of life, a subculture typically related to the Neanderthals. During the quaternary glaciation, the area become inhabited by means of large mammals inclusive of the woolly rhinoceros and the enormous, bones of the latter being found inside the Her?str?u sand quarry.

During the Iron Age, a settlement of the primary part of the Hallstatt generation belonging to a pastoral populace became located in Bordei-Her?str?u the location between Her?str?u and Floreasca lakes, today part of the Her?str?u Park, which gives the name of the culture. In the Dacian settlements of Her?str?u, which has been dated, with the help of the coins, to the 1st century BC, archeologists discovered a treasure containing silver fibulae, silver spiral bracelets, a silver bowl, in addition to Ancient Greek coins at the side of Dacian imitations.
