About Josika Branisca Castle
It is situated in Surduc, a town in Salaj County, Romania, comprises of a low-ascent mansion on the left bank of Some? River and a grave based on a precarious bluff at the passage from Jibou into the town. The grave, privately known as "Nobleman's sepulcher" Romanian: Cripta baronului, was worked in 1825, in the memory of Miklos Josika's dad who kicked the bucket a year prior. On the veneer can be perused "Parenti optimo pietas proculium posuit ano. MDCCCXXVII-mo", an engraving executed in 1828 by Hirschfeld Friedrich, an artist conceived in Debrecen. Here lived and worked from 1824 until 1853, essayist Miklos Josika, organizer of the Hungarian sentimental novel. Between the dividers of the château, he composed the recorded novel "Abafi", his style being compared to Walter Scott. Individuals from Josika family, starting in the north of the current Hunedoara County, contributed fundamentally to the ascent and last appearance of the stronghold.
