About Ghiroda
Ghiroda and Giarmata-Vii. The first documentary attestation of the locality dates from 1332. In 1393 it is noted in a file with the call of villa Gyrod, which suggests that it was of excessive importance. Between Ghiroda and Remetea there existed within the Middle Ages and at the start of the Habsburg period, the locality of Deg, which has disappeared these days.
At the 1717 conscription it appears with 24 houses and the name Gironda. Count Mercy introduced German colonists right here, and the village became Romanian-German. Later, Count Perlas tried to introduce the rice way of life to Ghiroda, but did not succeed because of the soil with non-gypsum substrate. It belonged to the treasury till 1781, while it turned into sold by using Mihai Sandor, and until 1896 it had numerous personal owners. In the 19th century, Hungarian settlers settled and the village fire accelerated extensively. In 1931, Ghiroda became not unusual and had subordinated villages of Romanians Crisan and Sever Bocu who later entered the composition of the locality.
