Ghimbav

Ghimbav is a city in Brasov County, Transylvania, valuable Romania. It is placed within the centre of Romania, 5 miles west of Brasov. The city become first stated in a letter written in 1420 by King Sigismund of Hungary. He counseled the population of Weidenbach/Ghimbav to sign up for their forces together with the human beings living in 3 other neighboring Saxon villages and make contributions to the construction of the stone castle of Brasov.

The Ottomans invaded Ghimbav in 1422. In 1469 a main fire broken the city. In 1611 the Hungarian prince Gabriel Báthory set hearth to several villages in Burzenland; Ghimbav become one of them. The neighborhood church and the bell tower have been built round 1300. In the 15th century a fortress become built across the church. It was hit with the aid of lightning in 1642 and suffered most important damages. In 1666 the metropolis corridor become moved inside the fort in addition to numerous different houses. These houses had been demolished in 1940. The shielding walls have been partly ruined within the 20th century.
