About Gavojdia
Gavojdia is a municipality in the county of Timis, Banat, Romania, consisting of the villages Gavojdia, Jena, Lugojel and Salbagel. The first documentary attestation of the village of Gavojdia dates from 1363. Gavojdia within the Joseph Map of Banat, 1769 to 72 Banat Josephinische Landaufnahme. We have the first news about the existence of the locality from the first half of of the fifteenth century in 1447, when the governor Ioan de Hunedoara donates half of of the products from Gavojdia de Jos and de Sus, from Lugoj district, to Dan and Vlad Temesely, the alternative part being within the ownership of Peter and John, sons of the late Denes.
In some Hungarian documents Gavojdia appears below the call of Cuvejdul de Jos and de Sus, among 1514 and 1516 it seems under the name of Gavojdioara. It has the following towns: Lugojel, Jena, Salbagel and the center Gavojdia. The commune of Gavojdia, with the village of Gavojdia because the house of the commune, is placed in the south-japanese part of Timis county and makes a border with Caras-Severin county, being at a distance of 12 km. Via the municipality of Lugoj, along the street and railways Timisoara - Bucharest.
