About Densus Church
The Densus Church inside the village of Densu?, Hunedoara County, Romania is one of the oldest Romanian church buildings nonetheless status. It became built in its gift shape in the 13th century at the site of a 2nd-century Roman temple, with some substances from the Dacian Sarmizegetusa fort. It has a stone tower above the naos. Inside the church there are 15th century mural artwork that display Jesus carrying Romanian conventional garments. These paintings had been made by means of artist Stefan. Later more artwork had been introduced through Simion de Pite?ti in the 18th century.
From 1566 to the cease of the nineteenth century this constructing functioned as a Calvinist church, too. Because of this, the paintings were lime-whited inside the sixteenth century and its belltower has a Hungarian inscription from 1782. According to Romanian historians it's far considered that on the setting of the present-day church, there was once a Dacian temple devoted to Zamolxis, upon which the conquering Romans built a temple devoted to the god Mars. Its gift shape dates from the beginning of the 12th century. Considering its culture, it dates from the 4th century AD, and is considered the oldest church in Romania and South East Europe.
