Cosambesti

Cosambesti is a commune in Ialomita County, Muntenia, Romania, consisting of the villages of Cosambesti and Gimbasani. The commune is placed within the south of the county, simply south-east of the municipality of Slobozia, at the proper financial institution of the Ialomita river. It is crossed by way of the county avenue DJ201, which connects it north-east with Marculesti, Saveni and Tandarei and westwards from Slobozia, Ciulnita, Albesti, Axintele and Cosereni. At the stop of the 19th century, the commune become a part of the Ialomita-Balta net of Ialomita County and consisted of the villages of Cosambesti, Ghimbasani and Popesti, with a population of 2395 inhabitants.

3 churches and three colleges functioned within the commune - one mixed in Ghimbasani and certainly one of boys and considered one of women in Cosambesti - with a total of 204 college students. In 1925, the commune is registered by way of the Socec Yearbook in its current composition, with the villages of Cosambesti and Ghimbasani having 2742 inhabitants. Temporarily, in 1931, the village cut up into the communes of Cosambesti and Ghimbasani but they reunited quickly.
