About Corund
Corund is the village of the commune with the same name in Harghita County, Transylvania, Romania. It is positioned within the western a part of the county, inside the Praid Depression. The locality is known as a famous pottery center. Corund is positioned in the western a part of Harghita County, at an altitude of 580 m, on the Corund valley, on DN13A, 18 km away from the spa motel Sovata and 29 km from Odorheiu Secuiesc.
The archaeological excavations made over time at the territory of the village bring material proof of the existence of man here from the oldest times; so on a hilltop of "Firtus" there had been found prehistoric gold links, and from some other location come a cash treasure and 3 silver cash from Augustus, Nero and Sabina. In 1983, a Roman tower became determined at the highest point of the "Cod Codaci-Kadacsmezo", and inside the vicinity called "The Part of Potos" there had been two styles for the making of early avant-garde decorative pieces, dated to the century VII.
