About Copou Park

The Copou Park or Copou Gardens is the most established open park in Iasi, Romania. Its improvement began in 1834 under the rule of Mihail Sturdza, making the recreation center one of the primary open gardens in Romania and an Iasi milestone. In its middle lies the Obelisk of Lions (1834), a 13.5 m (44 ft) tall pillar committed to Regulamentul Organic, the primary law on political, authoritative and juridical association in the Romanian Principalities. Different historic points incorporate Eminescu's Linden Tree, the Mihai Eminescu Museum and the Junimea Alley.

The patio nurseries are a prominent goal for travellers and local people, and additionally a most loved area for verse celebrations, photography displays and workmanship and specialty fairs. The recreation center covers roughly 10 hectares (down from 19 hectares at the tallness of its late-nineteenth century advancement) and has been depicted as a standout amongst the most excellent open gardens in Moldavia.

A social-anthropological pilot ponder improved the situation the district in December 2013 found that for the cutting edge guest Copou Park had turned into an emblematic place: its mainstream trees, a large number of them limes, encouraged the outflow of positive sentiments towards the past, and in addition of "wariness, intensity, estrangement or forcefulness" as to the nearby organization's dubious choice to supplant (by felling) a linden tree arrangement in the downtown area with smaller than expected Japanese bushes.
