Calopar

Calopar is a commune in Dolj County , Oltenia , Romania , together with the villages of Bazdana , Belcinu , Calopar, Panaghia and Salcuta. According to the census accomplished in 2011 , the populace of Calopar commune is 3.723, down from the preceding census in 2002 , while there were three,981 population. Most of the inhabitants are Romanian, with a minority of Roma. For 6.37 percent of the population, ethnicity is unknown. From a confessional factor of view, maximum of the population are Orthodox. For 6.23 percent of the population, confessional membership is unknown.

Calopar commune is run by a mayor and a local council composed of 13 councilors. Mayor, Marin Catalina , from the Social Democratic Party , became elected in2008. Starting with nearby elections in 2016, the local council has the following composition on political events. On 28 January the Russians below the command of General Iosif Romanovich Anrep reached Calafat and commenced the siege which lasted until May. Riddled with the resource of illness and no longer able to take the city, Anrep withdrew.
