About Borcea
Borcea is a commune located within the eastern a part of Calarași County, Romania. It is one of the maximum populous communes within the county and it's far situated at the west bank of the Borcea department. The commune became formed due to the administrative reform of 1968 via becoming a member of neighboring villages, Cocargeaua and Pietroiu. Today, it is composed of two villages, Borcea and Pietroiu. The oldest archaeological findings in Borcea date from III-IV BC and consist of historical pottery, Macedonian amphorae and a silver drachma issued via the historical city of Histria.
The presence of numerous archaeological proof in Borcea which originated from the Greek colonies in Dobruja cause the conclusion that among Getic settlements that were strung alongside the Borcea branch and the greek colonies there were cultural and economic exchanges. This layer of archaeological findings III-IV B.C. is blanketed by a Roman layer of pottery and different substances.
