About Bicaz
Bicaz is a metropolis in Neamt County, Romania located within the east Carpathian Mountains close to the confluence of the Bicaz and Bistrita Rivers and near Lake Bicaz, an artificial lake shaped through the Bicaz Dam on the Bistrita. Bicaz used to be a border metropolis till 1918. 6 villages are administered by the metropolis: Capsa, Dodeni, Izvoru Alb, Izvoru Muntelui, Potoci and Secu.
Before the development of the dam 1950 to 1960 the settlement changed into just a mountain village in Eastern Carpathians where the primary financial hobby turned into wood harvesting. By tradition, the tree trunks have been connected together, forming a raft; a raftman used to drive the raft at the Bistrita River downstream to timber processing centers in Piatra Neamt. Building the dam created additionally a horizontal enterprise: two cement and aggregate flowers have been built in Bicaz right and nearby Tasca. This, collectively with the development of the Bicaz-Stejaru Hydro Power Plant triggered a relative financial growth during the communist duration.
