About Baita de sub Codru
Baita de sub Codru is the village of the commune with the same call in Maramures County, Transylvania, Romania. Baita de sub Codru is located within the southwestern a part of Maramures County, about 50 km from the county seat - Baia Mare - in the ethnographic location known as the Tara Codrului, at the border with Satu Mare County and close to on the border with Salaj County, having as friends: Arinis commune to the east, Basesti commune within the south, Homoroade commune in Satu Mare county to the west and Asuajul de Sus commune, to the north.
The present village's call dates back to 17 February 1968, whilst Law no. 2, 1968 on the administrative organisation of the territory of Romania. Until that point the village became referred to as the Hungarian Mossobanya and Kiss Banya. The call of the locality is given via the existence within the 15th and 19th centuries of a gold exploitation interest in Codrul Baitei, whose lines both material and toponymy are recognized these days.
