Arbore

Arbore is a commune positioned in Suceava County, Romania. It is composed of 3 villages: Arbore, Bodnareni and Clit. Arbore is fine recognised for its church, devoted to Saint John the Baptist. Its painted church was the primary painted church to be covered on the UNESCO World Heritage List of the Churches of Moldavia. The monastery and the commune are named after the boyar Luca Arbore who built the church in 1503. The construction of the church become completed in approximately 5 months.

Its outside art work date from 1541 and were made through Dragoș Coman. Painting the church took about 40 years. The out of doors artwork at the western wall are the maximum properly preserved, as opposed to those on the northern facade, which suffered enormous climate-related damage. This harm arose mostly because the church roof was plundered through marauding Cossack troops and melted so one can make bullets.
