About Alexeni
Alexeni is a commune in Ialomița County, Romania, a few 65 km north-east of Bucharest, close to the metropolis of Urziceni. It is composed of a single village, Alexeni. Until 2001 a Romanian Air Force navy helicopters unit become positioned at the close by airfield. In 2007, because the airfield was no longer used by the Romanian Air Force anylonger, the former Minister of Transport Radu Berceanu counseled to use the area for Bucharest's new low-price flights airport.
However, some analysts considered the venture unrealistic and doomed to fail due to the terrible conditions of the infrastructure within the area. Eventually the ones plans had been deserted and all low-value flights had been moved in March 2012 at Bucharest major airport Henri Coandă International Airport. Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport is Romania's busiest global airport, located in Otopeni, 16.5 km north of Bucharest's city centre. It is presently one in all two airports serving the capital of Romania. The other is Aurel Vlaicu Airport, which not serves scheduled passenger visitors.
