Wrzesnia

Wrzesnia is a city in west-primary Poland with 28,600 population. It is located inside the Wrzesnia County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, formerly in Poznan Voivodeship, on the Wrzesnica River. The city turned into first referred to in 1256. Early sources talk of Wressna or Wresna. Wrzesnia was granted city privileges inside the 14^th century. The city turned into burned down 1664 inside the battle in opposition to Sweden.

The majority of inhabitants have been Poles, but in view that mid-17^th century there have also been German settlements. The metropolis turned into annexed via the Kingdom of Prussia in 1793, following the Second Partition of Poland. In 1807 it have become a part of the Duchy of Warsaw, but fell again to Prussia in 1815. Wrzesnia is known in Poland for a college strike via Polish children in May 1901 in response to the intensification of Germanization. The Polish language had long been tolerated in the colleges, so the creation of German as mandatory language led to protests.
