About Wegorzewo
Wegorzewo is a vacationer metropolis inside the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland and not far from the border with Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. It is the seat of Wegorzewo County. Lake Mamry called Maureen until 1945 is close to the town. The metropolis was first stated in a 1335 chronicle as Angirburg or fortress a settlement of the Teutonic Knights with a block house, a palisade, and a watchtower. A 1341 document mentioned that the Teutonic Order had bestowed land at the river Angerapp upon 12 Old Prussians for their loyal carrier. The Grand Duke of Lithuania, Kestutis, destroyed the fort in 1365, despite the fact that the order rebuilt the castle out of stone 30 years later.
The crowning glory of the stone castle Anger burg allowed the Teutonic Knights to increase development of the encompassing geographical region. The land around the Anger burg fort started out to be settled via the give up of the 15th century. As it was generally farmland, the Maureen becomes blocked up to allow the construction of a watermill. In 1510 a locality referred to as Neudorf or Gerothwol had advanced close to the Anger burg. After the muse of the Duchy of Prussia in 1525, the Anger burg became the seat of a district head.
