About Torun Castle
Torun Castle or Thorn Castle is a 13th century or 14th century citadel of the Teutonic Order placed in Torun, Poland. The Castle is a part of the Medieval Town of Torun, one of the World Heritage Sites in Poland. The Torun Castle was one of the first castles constructed by means of the Order in the lands ceded to them by means of Duke Conrad of Masovia. The construction commenced within the mid-13th century, and endured for about 100 years. It became the primary Teutonic castle inside the Chelmno Land.
The new city of Torun grew collectively with the Teutonic fortifications protecting it. The palace's historic fee comes from the reality that it changed into the base for the Teutonic Knights after they began their first challenge to colonize pagan Old Prussians, and in the end the formation of the Teutonic state. The citadel's first acknowledged feature turned into as the house of a Teutonic commander. Little of the fort survives to the contemporary, as it has been demolished in centuries since, with much destruction occurring in the course of a metropolis rise up in 1454.
The metropolis rebelled on four February, and few days later the small Teutonic garrison negotiated a give up; they had been allowed to leave the fort and the metropolis. Shortly later on, on 8 February, the citadel became plundered, and then the Torun City Council determined that it might be demolished to prevent the Teutonic Knights from reoccupying it. This occasion marked the beginning of the 13 Years' War.
