Swidnica is a city in south-western Poland in the area of Silesia. It has a population of 59,002 population consistent with 2014 figures. It lies in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, being the 7th largest city in that voivodeship. From 1975–98 it was in the former Wałbrzych Voivodeship. It is now the seat of Swidnica County, and additionally of the smaller district of Gmina Swidnica. Swidnica have become a part of the Wałbrzych agglomeration on 23 January 2014. The town's call was first recorded as Svidnica in 1070. Swidnica became a city in 1250, even though no founding record has survived that would confirm this reality.
The city belonged to the Duchy of Wrocław, a province of Poland. By 1290, the metropolis had city walls and 6 gates, crafts and trade have been blossoming, and in 1291-1392 it changed into the capital of the Piast-ruled Duchy of Swidnica and Jawor. The ultimate Polish Piast duke turned into Bolko II of Swidnica, and after his loss of life in 1368 the duchy changed into held with the aid of his spouse until 1392; after her demise it turned into incorporated into the Kingdom of Bohemia by way of Wenceslaus IV, King of Bohemia. In 1493, the metropolis is recorded by using Hartmann Schedel in his Nuremberg Chronicle as Schwednitz.
