Traces of agreement on the website online at some point of the Roman Empire length were discovered. In the middle Ages it turned into a fortified settlement below the rule of thumb of a castellan, part of Piast Poland, first mentioned in a deed issued by Pope Hadrian IV in 1155, confirming the limits of the Wroclaw diocese.
At the equal time the constructing of the St. Peter and Paul parish church started, from 1203 below the patronage of the Order of Saint John. About 1242, Strzegom received town privileges via Anne of Bohemia, widow of the Silesian duke Henry II the Pious. In 1248 it fell to the Silesian Duchy of Legnica beneath Henry's son Boleslaw II the Bald, contested via his nephew Henryk IV Probes, who, imprisoned by his uncle at Jelcz, eventually needed to resign Strzegom in 1277.
