Sokolow Podlaski

Sokolow Podlaski is a city in Poland, in Masovian Voivodeship, approximately 80 kilometers east of Warsaw. The city lies on the Cetynia River, inside the ancient location of Podlachia and is the capital of Sokolow County. The first settlement become inside the 6^th century and the metropolis acquired its constitution in 1424. Population in 2004 turned into 18,434, in 2010 turned into 8,481 and 18,720 in 2013. The beginnings of settlement on this location date again to 6^th century AD. The Sokolow vicinity belongs to that part of Podlachia, which, due to its region, turned into a regular settler outpost.

This location in early medieval time becomes a scene of the feudal fights between the Polish and Ruthenia states, the Teutonic Knights, Yotvingians and Lithuanians. Archaeological studies to determinate the cultural and ethnic shape of the settlements located numerous archaeological sites from the early Middle Ages within the place, which allowed scientists to correctly reproduce the stages of colonization procedure and the character of defensive and residential constructing systems of the settlements.
