About Pinczow
Pinczow is a metropolis in Poland, in Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship, approximately 40 km south of Kielce. It is the capital of Pinczow County. Pinczow belongs to the historical Polish province of Lesser Poland, and lies in the valley of the Nida River. The city has a station on a slender gauge line, called Holy Cross Mountains Rail. In the 12th century in the location of cutting edge Pinczow there has been a quarry. The miners operating at the quarry probably resided in a gord, which was destroyed in 1241, in the course of the Mongol invasion of Poland.
In the primary first half of the 14th century a Gothic fortress become erected within the spot wherein as soon as the gord stood. At the foot of the fortress, a settlement appeared, to start with called Piedzicow, Pandziczow and Pyandzyczow. The name Pinczow has been in use since the 16th century, and it is not recognized who first proprietor of the agreement become. In 1424, it belonged to the effective Olesnicki own family, which constructed its house right here, and funded a Pauline monk’s abbey. On September 21, 1428 in Lublin, King Wladyslaw II Jagiello granted city charter to Pinczow.
