About Ostroda
Ostroda is a metropolis in Ostroda County inside the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland, with 33,191 populations as of December 31, 2009. At the site of a unique Old Prussian settlement on an island at the river delta wherein the Drweca River flows into Lake Drweca the town of Ostroda advanced. In 1270 the Teutonic Order started building wood earthworks to control the authentic settlement in addition to guard the preliminary Mazurian and German settlers. The knights named the new town Osterode after Osterode are Harz in Lower Saxony, Germany. Between 1349 to 1370 the Order changed the timber and earth castle with a stone fortress.
