About Neptunes Fountain
Neptune's Fountain is a historic fountain in Gdansk, which was built with the activity of Mayor Bartlomiej Schachmann, and the neighborhood experts. The wellspring is situated in the most prominent piece of Gdansk - Long Market, by the passageway to Artus Court. In 1549, by the passageway of Artus Court there was found a now obscure well, which may have metal beautiful pieces. The well was found marginally nearer to the Motawa. The nearby experts of Gdansk, together with Mayor Bartlomiej Schachmann needed to raise a more striking landmark.
The principal artisan to get an offer to finish the venture was Jakub Kordes from Lubeka, however for obscure reasons his arrangement was not acknowledged. The new wellspring was to be built at the focal point of the veneer of the Artus Court, from the Green Gate the wellspring would be seen with the Gdansk Main Town Hall out of sight, with the swing to the Long Lane. Neptune - the divine force of the ocean - was to be set confronting the townhouses, which were the living arrangement of the Polish lords, while at their stay in Gdansk, the legendary god was to have his head bow down to them. The wellspring was to have underground pumps associating the wellspring to the Potok Siedlecki by Sienny Market; be that as it may, the weight was too low.
