About Morasko Meteorite Nature Reserve
The Morasko meteorite nature reserve is situated in Morasko, on the northern edge of the city of Poznan, Poland. It contains seven meteor pits. The reserve has a zone of 55 hectares (136 sections of land) and was built up in 1976. The place that is known for the save is secured by woods of oak and hornbeam trees, among which grow various extraordinary plant species.
The biggest of the seven cavities on the hold has a measurement of around 100 meters, and is around 11 meters down. Five of the cavities, including the biggest, contain lakes. The date of development is assessed to be around 5,000 years back (Holocene). The primary shooting star found at Morasko was revealed in 1914 by German warriors taking a shot at the development of a military fortress. From that point forward, numerous further parts have been discovered, including one measuring 78 kg in 1956.
In September 2006, Krzysztof Socha, a shooting star seeker from Kielce, working for the Geology bureau of the city's Adam Mickiewicz University, revealed with the guide of a metal identifier a shooting star weighing 164 kg. At the time, this was the biggest shooting star found in Poland. Examination demonstrated that the shooting star contained, aside from press nickel amalgam, a little amount of silicates (pyroxenes) not happening on Earth.
